Desa Tolajuk is a village out of Luwu District in Sulawesi, Indonesia. In Tolajuk, there are dozens of families that are growing their own coffee, but their hard work shines brightest when all their crop is brought together as a community collaboration. This coffee is the result of an entire village coming together to offer something truly unique, and they're proud of that. Both the farmers and local government are wanting the coffee from Luwu in the village of Desa Tolajuk to be known by the region and village it comes from.
Their coffee cherries are sold by the farmer and directly to Sisola Specialty Coffee. In the Indonesian language, Sisola means "together" which represents the work they're doing with these local farmers to help elevate quality and highlight these coffees in the market. Sisola paid, by far, the highest price for a coffee in the region in 2020. This happens with transparency and done promptly which isn't always the norm with other traders. We are proud to be working directly with Sisola Specialty Coffee and be one of the few roasting companies to offer this coffee!
When we first tasted this coffee, it instantly drew our attention. The flavor profile was unique, complex, and rich. We were blown away by what this coffee had to offer so when we heard there wasn't much left, we knew we had to take all there was available. It's reminding us of cherries, green apple, and a mix of dried fruit.
